FileMaker® Database Migration
FileMaker Pro uses internal data called File References to point each file to other related files. Each time your FileMaker solution is moved, FileMaker Pro will create new file references. When you use FileMaker Pro 7 to convert your older files to version 7, the program will maintain all those old references. In previous versions, this didn't make a great difference in speed (and since you couldn't see them there was no big impact on database maintenance or development).

Now, in FileMaker Pro 7, extraordinary and unused file references can have a major impact on the speed of your newly converted database. Also now, in version 7, you can see the file references and need to select one anytime you create a new relationship to another file. (Although it allows you to develop your new database in one file, FileMaker Pro 7 doesn't combine all your old files into one new file during conversion.)

The time to clean-up and remove your unused file references is BEFORE you convert your files. This is where Deploy Tech can help. We have all the development tools and experience you need to assure your solution is as clean, manageableand fast as possible. But what if you already migrated to FileMaker Pro 7? With a little extra time, Deploy Tech can still help you get most of the maximum performance out of your database.

Our 'No Problems, Just Solutions' approach to FileMaker migration keeps your business up and running and prepares you for future growth and maximized benefit from this great new FileMaker release.
